I was in studio RDPC today recording for Cléa Vincent, produced by Severin and Stéphane “Alf” Briat. A fun day, and I had the opportunity to break out my old Yamaha CP-70 for the second time this week! The first time was Tuesday in Studio Gang with singer Florent Mothe, produced by Pierre Jaconelli. The CP was Yamaha’s version of a portable piano from the late 70’s, from the last days of electro-acoustic keyboard instruments – before affordable, polyphonic synthesizers changed everything in the early 80’s. The CP is a beautiful and great sounding instrument, with a very recognizable sound. The list of users is endless: John Lennon, U2, Tom Waits, George Duke, Elton John, Prince, Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock…
